It's all about the sound.
In 1984 a group of guys came together to create an eclectic new sound. A jazzy, funky, rhythm and blues kind of sound with a dash of gospel thrown into the mix. A sound that isn't limited to one genre. When audiences hear them perform, they don't know whether to bob their heads, snap their fingers, tap their feet, or jump up and shout to that sound. So they do them all.
This multi-talented and diverse band of musicians and singers called Trio Plus, had a vision about this sound. They wanted it to transcend time and leave audiences with a romantic and fantasy-like feeling. And after listening to the band one time, audiences can feel that "Sound."
The band was founded by pianist Van Ford, saxophonist Jerry Smith, and drummer Randy Jones. The band has grown since the early days and now has incorporated guitars and bass into the mix. The band regularly features guitarist Marlon Branch and bassist Glenn Dixon Sr.
Van's skills at the keyboard and piano have you wishing you were one of the keys he's touching. Jerry's saxophone has you floating high among the clouds. Randy's electric drums and percussion take you rolling down a river. Throw in singing to their already talented skills at playing, and audiences are left mesmerized by the sound.
Trio Plus has 7 albums under their belt including Wisdom and Merry Christmas From Trio Plus by Trio Plus. My Secret Garden, Inside Out, and Jerry's Love by Jerry Smith. And Classic Love Songs and Vanology by Van Ford.
